Updates soon: what the development blog promised next
In July 2017 the studio posted a two-line update: a new version with real-time player versus player was coming, so hunters would finally play against each other live instead of only collecting.
Why PVP changes a collection game
Collecting is a single-player activity with a leaderboard attached. Real-time PVP is different: the value of a card stops being its rarity and becomes its timing. A card that looks strong on paper can be useless if the opponent acts first, and that is exactly what a live match exposes.
What the note promised, and what it did not
It promised a version with PVP. It did not promise a date, a season structure or rewards. That is worth remembering when reading development posts: a short post is usually a signal of direction, not a full specification.
| Phase | What players do | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Before PVP | Collect and upgrade | Rarity decides value |
| After PVP | Collect, build, duel live | Timing and effects decide value |
| With seasons | Compete on a schedule | New areas set the meta |
How to prepare for a live mode
- Learn your own deck's opening before you learn counters.
- Keep the resource curve low; live opponents punish slow starts.
- Do not spend everything on one expensive card.
Reading development notes today
The archive of these notes is short, but it shows the pattern the studio followed: announce the system, ship the build, then explain the effects. If you are looking for what changed in a given version, start with the note that names the system, not the one that lists the cards.
